Artist's Statement:

I am very process oriented.  The textures, shapes and colors are immediate in my mind; I will choose one element of significance;  a scrap from a letter, a photograph, or an object. I recall dreams, memories or images and incorporate symbols to represent them.   Quite often the symbols change meaning as I work, and a new narrative presents itself to me.  I love the surprise and exploration of new ideas, storylines, and visuals to point me in another direction and see something I've never noticed bofore.

Without Significant Impairment, 2011 - present

Without Significant Impairment is an installation in progress.  It's become a compulsion of collecting and rearranging the printed word as a representation of thwarted communication.  Words are torn and recombined to cover surfaces.  They are encased in wax and sewn shut or displayed for curiosity.  Cohesive thoughts are broken down to one word answers, partial words, single letters, and finally abstractions of color.
